Superstition on the disasters

Read from the newspaper that some hongkong bloggers are linking China's earthquake and other recent msfortuntes to the olympic mascots.

There were speculations that four of the 5 cartoon mascots have fulfilled prophesies of doom with one more to come.

The 5 Olympic mascots are jingjing, huanhuan, yingying, nini and beibei.

Jingjing a panda is the animal most closely associated with sichuan province so there was a earthquake.

Huanhuan a cartoon character with flame-red hair is being linked by bloggers to the torch that has been dogged by anti-china protests on its round the world tour.

Yingying, an antelope is an animal confined to the borders of Tibet which has been the scence of riots and cause of international protests against China.

Nini represented by a kite as being viewed as the kite city of weifang in Shangdong where there was a deadly train crash.

That leaves beibei represented by a sturgeon fish which online bloggers suggest could indicate a looming disaster in Yangtze River as it is the only place where sturgeon is found.

Other bloggers said that the recent disasters have come on days that are related to the normally lucky Chinese number. Tibet on 14/3 (1+4+3), Earthquake on 12/5 (1+2+5).

All these bodes ill for the opening day of beijing Olympics August 8 2008 (8+8+2+8=26 =2+6= 8. Wonder if 11 June (1+1+6) will have any news from China?

Imagine people believing in all these? Funny and for a good laugh.....
