Today we decided to go for an outing at one of the many national parks. When we reached there we do not have to pay the entrance fee of $11 as we have signed up for the one year national parks entrance of $65. We can go to any national parks and do not have to pay. When we are in the park, we headed to the Garie Beach first. This is a surfers' paradise as the waves are powerful. We had a fun time there. What we did were standing on the beach and when the white foamy waves came in, we ran for our lives. The challenge is to make sure the waves don't wet our shoes. Today's weather is hot and sunny but not humid.
After that, we went to a nature walk where it will lead us to a picnic area beside a creek. There is not much water in teh creek now so it is a gentle stream now. The walk is only 700m but it seemed like a long walk. Charlynn and I took a branch each as a walking stick. Very useful to have support and we did not feel the strain on our legs.
When we were about to go off , a family of four came along. It was an Aussie couple and their sons. The elder one is probably 3 and the baby is 1 yr old. They seemed to have visited the place a few times. The locals love the nature and many actually are heading for the beaches. We knew because after that we wanted to visit the other 2 beaches in the nature reserve but did not managed as there was no parking lot and there were swarms of people. The area was filled with BBQ aroma. The Aussie simply love BBQ. They have electric and gas BBQ stove. Children wanted to buy one but Joe was afraid it will be white elephant so he has not given the green light. If I am the one having the freewill to spend, I would have bought it already. Well! money not mine so I have to shut up la evwen though I know it can be quite handy. On the other hand, guess I might end up doing all the BBQ if we have the set.
Okay back to today's outing. Lunch is bananas, fruit juice, bread and snadwiches. I have my super 3 in 1 coffee as there is hot water in the hot water flask. The flask cost us $24 Aussie dollars and I would say it is value for money. After we tried in vain to find a parking lot, we decided to go for a boat ride. When we reached the river, Channery refused to go out as she was sleepy. I stayed with her in the car while Joe and the 3 children went to hire a row boat. A family actually hired the row boat till 5pm but felt tired after rowing for an hour so they offered to let us have it for $20. They paid a total of $40 for the whole afternoon after 1pm. We decided to take their boat as by the end of the day, we can still get back $10, which means we can have the row boat for nearly 3 hours for $10 only.
By the time Channery awoke, Joe and children were out of sight. I took baby and her milk bottle to a site under the tree and waited for them. While waiting, a family of girls and ladies came up to the platform with their row boats, they were unable to keep their balance and the boat capsized. one of the lady's bag was lost in the lake. I was a bit worried for Joe and the children. When they came back safely, they offered to take us in the row boat. Baby and I have no life jackets but I think it should be quite safe so we went into the row boat. The ride was fun and relaxing. We rowed for another hour before going back to return the row boat. Guess we will get a scolding from whoever reading for this act but joe and I really feel not so threatened and we are confident we can do the necessary if the boat capsized la. The riverbank is not broad so we can easily swim to shore la.
After returning the boat, we made the trip back to Campsie. We are trying to get back to the petrol station near my place as I forgot to cap back the petrol tank cap the last time I went to pump petrol. Very forgetful right? Wrong, the answer is that Joe is always the one to do the job and We have the petrol attendants to help us back in Singapore. Here I have to do it and I just slam the petrol tank outlet close without realizing I left the cap in the petrol koisk.
Well! Tough luck, uncle decided to close early today and we detour to Campsie Centre for dinner. Children love the Happy Chef REstaurant so we went in for dinner. We had fried beef noodles for Charles , Rice with prawns in egg sauce for Charlynn , Fried seafood and vegetable and rice for Joe, Fried Chicken noodlefor Chantz and Beef laksa for myself. Food there is quite nice and we did not managed to finish the food. Next time I am going to limit their orders. The children shall have only 2 dishes if they are ordering individual dishes. The meal cost us $52.
Well! Now the children are having their baths. They watched Survivor China just now and received a sound scolding from Joe for not going for their baths. I will bathe soon as I am feeling a bit tired with all the driving and walking. Good nite k
