Parenting

Children will be children. At this minute they really drive you up the walls and the next minute they bring a smile to your face. Sometimes I wondered if we have been too harsh on the children- the boys especially. They have only just turned 7 but we are treating them like they ought to have been 17. Anyway, they like it or not, I still think they need to be punished for bad behaviours and be praised for behaving well.

Today Channery broke my $799 Lumix camera. I was really hopping mad but what done cannot be undone and I just have to accept the fact. The fact that Joe allowed the children to handle the camera in the first place already spells disaster. I have the old camera and I should have insisted that the children use the old camera instead. Well! it's a lesson learnt again. If I go against Joe too often, children might try to manipulate us so we ought to be on the same side in terms of parenting.

Today I made the children copied the stories from story books and Charles refused to do it. He created a scene and screamed and shouted, trying to get away from completing the task. Guess what? He even threatened to kill himself. After much thought, I finally decided to help him out by holding his hand and helping him to write. After completing his task, he was as happy as a lark again. He really ought to grow up and do what he has been told to do. The copying is a way to learn proper grammer, improve handwriting and learn new vocabulary. Let's hope we can have this exercise more often.

I am free now as Joe has brought children to the park for a jog. Wonder what to cook for dinner tonight? I will decide later after seeing what I have in the fridge. Did my marketing only twice a week so I really have to be creative on what to cook. There is always lots of vegetables and fruits and a meat dish. Seafood not so keen as quite expensive here.

Ok! Better be off to prepare dinner.
